Luxury Ski Chalets Courchevel 1550

There are two main lifts in Courchevel 1550: the Grangettes gondola, which provides a direct link to La Croisette in Courchevel 1850, and the Tovets chairlift, from where you can ski down to the Plantrey lift thereby avoiding all the early morning queues at the main lift station in 1850.

While 1550 has a small selection of its own runs, most skiers staying here opt to use the resort’s excellent lift links to explore the wider Three Valleys ski area. To reach Courchevel Le Praz, take the Tovets chairlift out of 1550, then follow either the Amoureux or Brigues red pistes down into the resort centre. To access Courchevel 1650, take the Grangettes gondola up to 1850. From there, jump on the Jardin Alpin gondola and ski down to the Biollay chairlift. Follow the blue Pralong and Prameruel pistes to the Roc Mugnier chairlift, and from the top, you can ski directly into Courchevel 1650.

For beginners and children, the Roys lift provides free access to a small green piste, perfect for building confidence. Additionally, the Grangettes gondola offers access to the children’s ski areas in Courchevel 1850. At the end of the day, if you'd rather not ski back down, you can always take the gondola back to Courchevel 1550.

If you love winter walking, Courchevel 1550 offers beautiful snowshoeing and hiking trails. With well-marked routes leading into the surrounding forests and up into the mountains, it’s a wonderful way to take in the natural beauty of the area at a slower pace.

There's also a fantastic tobogganing course starting from Courchevel 1850. Climb aboard your toboggan and challenge your friends to a 2 km course through snow-covered fir trees to Courchevel Village.

Popular events in the valley include the Alpine Ski World Cup in January and the International Festival of Pyrotechnic Art, which lights up the villages with spectacular displays during February and March.

Travelling by train is another convenient way to reach Courchevel 1550. The nearest major train station is in Moûtiers, around 25 kilometres from Courchevel. High-speed TGV trains from Paris and other French cities frequently arrive at Moûtiers. From there, you can take a taxi or hop on a regular bus service that operates between Moûtiers and Courchevel. The journey up the mountain to Courchevel 1550 takes about 20-30 minutes.

By road, Courchevel 1550 is easily accessible via the French motorway system. From major cities like Paris or Lyon, you can take the A43 motorway towards Albertville. From Albertville, continue on the N90 road to Moûtiers. Once you reach Moûtiers, follow the signs to Courchevel and drive up the D915 mountain road, which will lead you directly to Courchevel 1550. The journey offers scenic views as you ascend into the heart of the Alps. In winter, it’s advisable to check the weather conditions and ensure your car is equipped with snow tyres or chains, as the mountain roads can become icy.
