Ideal for family ski holidays, Morzine offers a diverse range of ski runs catering to all ages and abilities. The ski area can be roughly divided into three main zones: the local Pléney/Les Gets area, the nearby Nyon and Chamossière slopes, and the expansive Super Morzine that connects to the vast Portes du Soleil network.

The Pléney area, known for its sun-soaked, tree-lined slopes, is an excellent starting point for beginners. It offers a variety of gentle runs with favourites like Piste B, Corbeau, and Grizzli ideal for those progressing beyond the nursery slopes. Nyon also has a beginner-friendly magic carpet lift and tends to be less crowded than Pléney during peak weeks.

For more advanced skiers, the Nyon area offers some thrilling steep descents, including the red Aiguille Rouge, Les Lanches and La Combe pistes. On a clear day, the summit of Point de Nyon offers stunning views of Lake Geneva in one direction and Mont Blanc in the other.

Chamossière, though smaller, presents challenging runs from the summit, including the black Les Creux and the red Arbis. The area is also popular with free-riders offering access to an unpisted bowl, though we recommend only seasoned skiers with essential avalanche safety gear venture here.

The Super Morzine gondola, located on the opposite side of the valley from Pleney, connects to the Zore lift, ultimately leading to Avoriaz and the rest of the Portes du Soleil. Avoriaz, renowned for its impressive snow park and halfpipe, usually has the best snow conditions. From here, you can easily reach Lindarets, which links to Chatel and Switzerland.

For expert skiers, the Swiss Wall, or ‘Le Pas de Chavanette,’ is a must. This exceptionally steep and bumpy run is one of the most challenging ski slopes in the world. It is so demanding that it is classified beyond black as an orange run. Off-piste enthusiasts will find plenty of terrain to explore, particularly in the Nyon and Chamoissiere areas, where easily accessible off-piste options abound.

Morzine offers a diverse dining scene, catering to all tastes and budgets, from traditional Savoyarde fare to family-friendly options. On the mountain, Chez Nannon is a firm favourite of ours. This charming family-run Savoyarde restaurant on the Nyon plateau is perfect for savouring local specialities in a relaxed setting. Another popular spot for lunch is Le Vaffieu at the top of the Folliets chairlift, where you can enjoy traditional French cuisine in a Savoyard-style chalet or on the sunny terrace.

If you’re staying in one of Morzine’s self-catered chalets, evenings provide an excellent opportunity to explore the resort’s many dining options. For family-friendly dining in the centre of town, Le Colibri is our top choice. This all-day bistro, open from 8 am to 10 pm, offers a wide-ranging menu that includes everything from burgers, hot dogs and croques to salads, Buddha bowls and sharing platters.

For a quick bite, Ô Chalet is sure to tempt you with its menu of burgers, savoury crêpes and bagels, while L’Improviste Morzine is the go-to spot for the best pizza in town.

Morzine also boasts some fantastic restaurants serving French classics. La Grange is perfect for an elegant dinner, La Rotunde offers an extensive menu and wine list, and La Chaudanne impresses with its vaulted wine cellar, housing over 350 wines. For a special celebration, L’Atelier in the three-star Hotel Le Samoyède offers a surprise tasting menu that changes daily.

How to get to Morzine

Morzine is one of the most accessible ski resorts, located just 80 km from Geneva Airport. From the airport, you can reach your luxury ski chalet in Morzine by private transfer or rental car, with the drive taking approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. For a quicker and more scenic option, we can also arrange a helicopter transfer.

While Geneva is the most convenient airport, you can also fly into Chambery (130 km) Lyon (205 km) or Grenoble (208 km). However, transfer times from these airports are considerably longer.

If you prefer to travel by train, the closest stations to Morzine are Cluses (29 km) and Thonon-Les-Bains (32 km), both of which are served by high-speed (TVG) trains from Paris. The final leg of the journey by road takes around 40 - 60 minutes.
