What Sets Val d'Isere Ski Resort Apart?

The History of Val d'Isere

Originally a small farming village, Val d’Isere has developed into a modern Alpine resort while still retaining its village feel and strong sense of tradition. Situated at the end of the Tarentaise valley, Val d’Isere shares its slopes with neighbouring Tignes, offering over 300 km of slopes that reach up to 3,456m at the top of Le Fornet cable car.

One of the many reasons we love Val d’Isere ski resort is its ongoing commitment to enhancing its infrastructure and amenities. Between 2017 and 2022, a 200 million euro development transformed the area, improving accommodation options, piste access, and visitor facilities.

More recently, Val d’Isere has continued to innovate, introducing four-hour lift passes for those adopting a more “hybrid” style of ski holiday. The resort has also created Gypaète, an adventure slope inspired by land art and the local fauna, and developed Val Square, a revamped shopping centre designed to serve visitors and residents in the heart of La Daille.

The Espace Killy is such a vast ski area, full of exciting piste, amazing restaurants and beautiful views. If you don't know the area well then getting a ski guide is a must, regardless of your skiing ability. The local guides are a superb and fun way to explore the ski area and get top local tips at the same time.
