Kronplatz, located in the South Tyrol region of northern Italy, is one of the country’s top destinations for a luxury ski holiday, known for its vast, well-groomed pistes, stunning alpine views, and modern infrastructure. The resort boasts over 119 kilometres of ski runs, making it a favourite among both beginners and seasoned skiers. Its wide, spacious slopes are particularly ideal for families and those looking for a relaxed, leisurely skiing experience.

Luxury Chalets in Kronplatz

Encompassing Bruneck-Brunico, St Vigil-San Vigilio and Valdaora-Olang, holidaygoers are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a ski chalet in Kronplatz.

Locals affectionately call Kronplatz "the panettone," likening its shape to the loaf-like dessert. Unlike traditional ski resorts, where a network of lifts fans out from a central village, Kronplatz has several villages scattered around its broad base. The pistes crisscross the entire mountain, all leading to a single point at the summit.

The most popular base is San Vigilio, a traditional village with an attractive wooded setting. Around 2 km long, the village has two lift stations north of the main cluster of hotels and Kronplatz ski apartments and chalets.

With the exception of five long black runs (favoured by Austria’s World Cup ski team for training), Kronplatz’s 75 miles of pistes are mostly cruisy reds and blues, and there are dedicated nursery slopes to boot. Visit the large Snowpark and the fascinating mountaintop Reinhold Messner Museum, which showcases traditional mountaineering.
