Heliskiing in the South Chilcotin
British Columbia is widely considered the global capital of heliskiing, and the South Chilcotin Mountains represent its most quietly spectacular corner. Nestled between the Coast Mountains and the Fraser Plateau, the region is defined by expansive alpine bowls, steep couloirs, open glades, and glaciated terrain.
Unlike the more frequented corridors of BC’s ski scene, the South Chilcotin remains wild and uncrowded – a vast, protected wilderness shaped by glacial valleys, rugged peaks, and broad alpine basins.
What makes this region truly exceptional is its location, where the cold, stable air of the interior Chilcotin Plateau meets the deep, moisture-rich snowfall of the Pacific coast. The result is a rare blend of light, dry powder and remarkably reliable conditions – up to 25 metres of snow annually, with just one down day every two weeks.
