Situated in a peaceful spot, in the heart of Winkelmatten, Chalet Shalimar is a scenic 15-minute stroll from the centre of Zermatt and a 10-minute walk from the Matterhorn Express Gondola which delivers you to the Glacier Paradise. Perfect for large corporate groups or families holidaying together, Chalet Shalimar accommodates up to 20 guests across ten en-suite bedrooms with 866m² of living space. The chalet can also be split into an eight and twelve-person apartment for smaller groups - Elena and Alex.

Traditional alpine wood and timber have been used throughout the chalet. Teamed with carefully chosen soft furnishings, the ambience is warm and inviting.

The top floor of the chalet is home to the living and dining area, complete with roaring fires and TVs. Floor-to-ceiling sliding doors open onto spacious balconies offering spectacular views of the magnificent Matterhorn. When rented in its entirety, one side of the top floor is transformed into the main dining area, the other into a living area. The chalet has multiple kitchens and further living and dining areas are located on the ground floor.

On the lower ground floor is the spectacular spa with an indoor swimming pool, sauna, hammam and massage room. Relax in style whilst admiring the wonderful views of the Matterhorn.

Chalet Shalimar has ten twin/double bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities. Six of the bedrooms have private balconies whilst the remaining rooms have access to the terrace on the ground floor. Also on this level is a ski room with heated boot warmers.

Chalet Shalimar is nestled in the exclusive Winkelmatten hamlet of Zermatt. The area combines a peaceful alpine setting with easy connections to the town centre and lifts. There is a good selection of restaurants nearby in Winklematten.

Insider Insights at Chalet Shalimar

Location & Access

Set in the tranquil Winkelmatten area, Chalet Shalimar is a little removed from Zermatt’s bustling centre. If you like being in the heart of the action, this may not be the best fit. That said, the nearest bus stop is only a couple of minutes away and gets you into town quickly.
For confident skiers, there’s an off-piste route that lets you ski directly down to the Matterhorn Express lift - just be aware it’s not suitable for beginners or intermediates and only possible when the snow conditions are good.
