Situated 200 km north of the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland, Fjellborg Arctic Lodge offers a secluded setting for guests from November through to April. Nestled in the trees on the shore of Lake Vakkara, the lodge is easier to access than you might imagine. You will be greeted by your hosts at Kiruna Airport, which is just a 1.5 hour flight from Stockholm. From here, it’s a 20-minute transfer to Poikkijärvi, followed by an exhilarating hour-long dog sled ride to the lodge.
The inviting Fjellborg Arctic Lodge is a haven of tranquility. Guests will have the Master Cabin all to themselves. This comprises a spacious entertaining area complete with cosy wood-burner on the ground floor; and, overlooking the lake, three stunning bedrooms with queen-size beds on the bottom and additional bunk beds on the top. On the first floor is a beautiful master bedroom with a king-size bed. The lodge has a bathroom with showers and a WC and for relaxation, a sauna and outdoor hot tub.
Guests can choose to dine in the Master Cabin or the Main Lodge, which is also home to a lounge for drinks and a place to regale one another with tales of the day. The food is all locally sourced and the menu is based around Lappish cuisine. Expect plenty of fresh fish, game, vegetables, berries and mushrooms, and special dietary requirements can be taken into account.
At Fjellborg Arctic Lodge you can enjoy a number of privately guided activities. Six packages are available, from one to four night stays. The four night package combines all the main attractions of Arctic Lapland; dog sledding, ice fishing, snowshoeing, ice sculpting, a guided tour of ICEHOTEL and a snowmobile excursion to an indigenous Sami camp where you will learn about their fascinating culture.
