Verbier’s ski season starts in early to mid-November and typically lasts until late April or early May. While the main lift base is centred around Medran, we recommend starting your day at Carrefour – a savvy shortcut to the wider ski area and more time exploring the mountain.
Well known as a freeride mecca, confident and adventurous skiers will get the most out of ski holidays in Verbier. However, if you are a beginner, there are still plenty of areas to learn. You’ll find the best nursery slopes at Les Esserts right next to the Hameau bus stop. Make your first turns here before advancing to Le Rouge and La Chaux further up the mountain.
If you like carving, head to Les Attelas early in the morning and enjoy the wide-open runs down to Les Ruinettes and Verbier. For more of a challenge, we recommend heading to Mont Fort, Tortin and Mt Gelé. These areas are easily accessible but tend to be less crowded with better snow. When the weather closes in, head to Bruson - only those ‘in the know’ ski here and with its low altitude and tree-lined terrain you can usually see even in foggy conditions. Heli-skiing in Verbier is also possible with four drop-off points at Glacier du Trient, Petit Combin, Pigne d'Arolla and Rosablanche.
Verbier’s challenging terrain has given rise to some thrilling spectator events including the Xtreme Verbier (finals of the Freeride World Tour) at the end of March, and the Patrouille des Glaciers, a gruelling ski touring race from Zermatt in April.

Best Bars & Restaurants in Verbier
Well known for its exciting skiing terrain, Verbier ski resort is also recognised for its lively nightlife. We have hazy memories of many happy hours spent in Farinet, Le Rouge and Pub Mont Fort. You won’t go hungry either.
Whether you’re craving a burger (try Le Shed), looking for a picturesque mountain terrace to enjoy an afternoon tipple or two (you can’t beat Le Dahu) or prefer Swiss classics (Le Carrefour serves the finest rosti in town), Verbier’s restaurants will delight every palate.
For fine dining, La Table d’Adrien is perfect for a special occasion, whilst Le Vingt Deux is an intriguing Speak Easy concealed behind a secret door which welcomes 15 guests for a six-course dinner. Another favourite is Eat Hola Tapas Bar in the W Verbier Hotel, where we love to sit at the bar and watch the chefs in action.
