Sitting at an altitude of 1,602m, Arabba is a small traditional village with a few shops, bars and restaurants. The older part of the village features wooden houses and the Pieve di Livinallongo church dating back to the late 1600s. Higher up, luxury ski chalets in Arabba are on the rise due to the village’s fantastic access to both Alta Badia and the Sella Ronda sectors.

The Arabba-Marmolada ski area is home to over 60 km of local pistes but as part of the Dolomiti Superski carousel, you have access to 1,200 km of slopes across 15 resorts. Arabba is also one of the starting points of the famous “Sella Ronda” circuit, a stunning 40 km ski route that covers the four Ladin valleys of Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Arabba and Val di Fassa.

Aside from skiing, Arabba ski resort offers a plethora of alternative winter activities from snowshoe treks and snowmobiling to ice climbing and panoramic helicopter flights over the Dolomites. In summer, trekking, hiking and biking are popular pursuits.

Arabba ski holidays offer an excellent selection of slopes ranging from open to woodland pistes. From Arabba, you can ski to the highest mountain in the Dolomites, the Marmolada.

Surrounded by some of the most beautiful peaks in the Dolomites, ski holidays in Arabba are filled with spectacular scenery. As one of the higher resorts in the region along with shady runs, you can be confident of decent snow. However, the snowmaking is extensive if you’re unlucky with fresh snowfall.

Arabba’s slopes are divided into three distinct areas: one directly above the village, on the slopes below the Porta Vescovo with lifts linking up to the Passo Pordoi and Canazei, and finally, the lifts linking up to the Passo Campolongo and Corvara.

Arabba’s local slopes offer some of the steepest terrain in the Sella Ronda, making it popular with more adventurous skiers. The north-facing blacks and reds from Porta Vescovo offer genuine challenges. Beginners could struggle here (although there is a nursery slope near the Burz chair). However, some blues would likely be listed as reds in other resorts. Freestylers can enjoy access to the terrain park from Le Pale chairlift which is full of jumps, rails and boxes.

Best Bars & Restaurants in Arabba

From traditional Ladin cuisine to international specialities, you can enjoy a variety of dining options in Arabba. On the mountain, Rifugio Luigi Gorza is located at the top of Porta Vescovo with outstanding views of the glacier from the outdoor terraces. Another recommended spot is the modern Rifugio Burz, with its dazzling views and modern twist to Ladin cuisine.

Located in the Hotel Alpen Rose, the restaurant Stube Ladina is recommended for its carefully prepared and well-presented dishes made from regional produce and interesting wine list. In the centre of Arabba by the Burz chairlift, Milky’s Grill specialises in grilled meat and fresh pasta dishes. There are also several pizzerias to choose from.

Like many of the smaller resorts in the Dolomiti Superski, there isn’t a huge après-ski offering. However, Bar Peter in the centre of the village offers music, pizza and cocktails all winter.

Ice climbing is another popular option, allowing you to scale frozen waterfalls with expert guides. Arabba is also home to a snowmobiling circuit. Located near the Funslope and the Plan Boè Rifugio, this circuit can only be reached on skis.

If relaxation is more your style, unwind at nearby wellness centres that offer luxurious spa treatments, saunas, and thermal baths.

Arabba also boasts a rich cultural heritage. Take a day to visit the charming churches and traditional Ladin villages, or explore the Great War Museum, which sheds light on the region’s history.

Summer in Arabba

In summer, Arabba transforms into a haven for outdoor lovers, offering a wealth of activities amidst the majestic Dolomites. Hiking is one of the most popular pursuits, with trails leading through alpine meadows, dense forests, and up to breathtaking viewpoints. Routes around Passo Pordoi, Marmolada Glacier, and the Sella Group offer hikers unforgettable panoramic views.

Mountain biking is another exciting option, with trails ranging from leisurely paths to thrilling downhill descents.

The Sellaronda MTB Tour is a highlight, allowing riders to explore the iconic mountain range with the help of lift systems. For a more relaxed experience, scenic cable car rides offer stunning views of the surrounding peaks, ideal for soaking in the beauty of the landscape.

How to get to Arabba

Getting to Arabba, located in the Veneto region of Italy, is relatively straightforward. The most convenient airports are Venice Marco Polo (170 km), Treviso (160 km), Verona Villafranca (230 km) and Innsbruck (140 km). Upon arrival at any of these airports, you can rent a car or we can arrange for a private transfer to complete your journey to Arabba. From these airports, the journey time by road ranges from 2.5 to 3 hours.

If you prefer to travel by train, the nearest major train stations are in Belluno (70 km), Bolzano (70 km), and Bressanone (60 km). Dolomiti Bus operates regular services from Belluno, while SAD buses connect Bolzano and Bressanone to Arabba. However, it is also possible to organise a private transfer.

Driving to Arabba is one of the most scenic options, offering beautiful mountain views as you approach the village.
