Chalet 1808 is nestled in the charming village of Saanenmöser, one of nine picturesque villages in the greater Gstaad region. The train station is just 800 metres away, which brings you to the centre of Gstaad. Alternatively, driving to the centre of Gstaad takes around ten minutes. Perfectly positioned for outdoor enthusiasts, there are scenic trails and cross-country paths on your doorstep. Keen skiers will also appreciate the location, with the slopes just 50 metres away and the nearest lift only 900 metres away.
Built in 1808, the chalet was originally used as a coaching station for travellers crossing Switzerland to rest overnight with their horses and carriages. In 1862, a barn was added, which operated as a dairy farm for many years. In 2020, the property underwent a meticulous restoration, preserving its original woodwork and traditional charm.
Today, the property is spread across two buildings: the historic coaching station and the barn.
The coaching station, arranged over three floors, houses six bedrooms. The ground floor includes two double bedrooms and a bunk room ideal for children or teenagers. The first floor features a well-equipped kitchen, a spacious dining room, a lounge, a music room, and an office. The second floor offers three more bedrooms, each with its own en-suite shower room, including a master bedroom with a private dressing room and magnificent views.
The barn, located just a few metres from the coaching station, spans two floors. The ground floor boasts an impressive reception area and a dining room with exposed stone walls and a rustic wooden dining table. Upstairs, you’ll find an expansive entertainment space with comfortable sofas, along with a more private living area with a kitchenette, dining table, lounge and mezzanine with a desk. Additionally, there is a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room. The property offers parking for four cars.
