What Sets St Moritz Ski Resort Apart?

The History of St Moritz:

Widely recognised as the birthplace of winter tourism, St Moritz ski resort has attracted visitors since 1864, when hotelier Johannes Badrutt invited British guests to experience the Alpine winter. Their delight with the sunshine and snow marked the start of a new era, one that would see St Moritz become synonymous with luxury, sport, and style.

Twice host of the Winter Olympics and still a hub of innovation, St Moritz continues to blend history and modern luxury. From Michelin-star restaurants to haute couture, St Moritz is often associated with those who have an appreciation for the finer things in life However, it is also known for its slightly eccentric winter events which include White Turf (horse racing on the frozen lake), Cricket on Ice, the Cresta Run and Snow Polo World Cup. You are just as likely to encounter fur-clad shoppers as sports enthusiasts in St Moritz, all adding to its distinct character.

I’ve visited St Moritz many times over the years, with clients, journalists, property owners and most recently for a short break with my wife. We enjoyed excellent hospitality at the Carlton, relaxing in the spa and sampling the taster menu at Da Vittorio. The snow was superb and we managed to get two solid days skiing at Corviglia, stopping for lunch at Langosteria. Other highlights included dining at Chesa Veglia Patrizier Stuben and chocolate shopping for our children at Hanselmann.
